Halion 10 Normal

Well done BrotherHood on another First Kill!

The team stuck with it and learned how to dodge lazers!

Phase 1 – shouldn’t need explanation. don’t stand in it. run out to be cleansed/cured.
Phase 2 – avoid the lasers. avoid the breath.
Phase 3 – same as Phase 1 and 2 only the raid is split.

First 8 cleared in one night.

Nice accomplishment for BrotherHood.  We face-rolled the first 8 in 0ne night for the second week in a row and it feels like we can do it all the time.  Putricide is giving our melee fits and is taking its toll on the patience of the raiders I think.  I always seems that we have the people to down the first 8 on Tuesday but never the right mix for the Wednesday learning.  Badge farming?  Not sure if that is what is happening but it feels like it.  We will see as we move forward.

Rotface made an angry poo poo!

A fun fight? A test of coordination and attentiveness – and patience. Everyone watches Tankspot videos these days. If you don’t, you are either arrogant or not raiding. We walk away from the videos with an “I can do that” attitude.

Assign a kiter to the big ooze. The kiter will run around the outside of the room. They will avoid the splashes of ooze that will come out of the walls when Professor Putricide emotes that he has fixed the faucets. They will also avoid the sprays that come from the big ooze, the little ooze and Rotface. You will see it on the ground and in the air – avoid it. The kiter WILL NOT dps. They will be running about 90% of the time. The kiter will need to keep aggro on the big ooze constantly so they should always be 20-30 yards away. Run, Run around stuff, run through stuff, run through snare stuff, keep aggro. Oh, don’t let the big ooze touch you.

When a raid member gains mutated infection, they will need to run out of the middle of the room immediately. When they are far enough away, they will be cleansed to make a little ooze. Two little oozes make a big ooze. The first two kiters will be running to each other toward the outside of the room where the kiter will pick up the big ooze and begin kiting. Subsequent cleanses/little oozes will need to be brought to the big ooze and its kiter. I recommend that the new little oozes be kited to the big ooze kiter and not intercept the big ooze. The AoE damage from the big ooze is painful so getting near him should be avoided.

Keep your DoTs/DPS up on Rotface :)

Lady Deathwhisper Down!

by puck on Dec.15, 2009, under BrotherHood, Raiding, Strategy, WoW

The first wing of Icecrown in 10 man is not so hard (4/4). The DTPS is not scary and the fights are accomplishable. Blizzard did well with the 10 man Normal. The 25 man Normal (2/4) can be a challenge and has been for us. BrotherHood is in some ToGC gear and that has helped some. Our ability to continue to press in difficult fights as well as communicate during and after raids to devise strategy has also been a bonus. Last night after Deathwhisper we took a look at the gunship and got it to 40% on the first try. We have a few more leaders stepping up and taking the reigns of raid leading. I am thankful for that. I also very much enjoyed the communication and intent in the raid last evening.

The strategy we used involved bringing the whole raid behind the boss. We edged around against the wall until the entire raid was spread out. We assigned 2 tanks to each side to gather up the adds as they came. We called out the middle add as it came and any free melee or tanks went and killed it. When the Fanatic became deformed and was untankable, we kited him. Anyone could kite him so usually it was a DK or a Hunter. We assigned three to the bubble – one boomkin, one hunter, one shadow priest. When the adds were down, everyone burned the bubble and waited for the next wave of adds. When her mana bubble burst, an assigned tank picked her up. Any remaining adds were killed as quickly as possible. We also six healed it.

Well Done BrotherHood!

Crazy Cat Lady – KENNELED!

Crazy Cat Lady - KENNELED

We finally broke through Auriaya on Heroic last evening.  I think learning her was the hardest yet.

A few things of note:  Having four OT was helpful here for the adds.  Misdirect on the pull to encourage the cats to stay put while the raid DPS burns them down.  You should have two dead before the first fear.  Remember to recover in front of the boss as much as you can so that the Screech damage is distributed. Ignore the Feral Defender at first and do not kill it on purpose.  Warlocks should put Seeds on Auriaya and let the Guardians also die by collateral damage from Death Knights and Paladin AoE.  This strategy will reduce the movement of the raid and allow you to concentrate on recovery after the Fear.  It will encourage positioning and interrupts on her when she begins to cast after the Fear.

Using this method, a lot of DPS is necessary.  The raid DPS needs to hover in the 3500+ range.  Understanding buff effectiveness and synergy is also important.  I strongly suggest if you cannot get to the 3500+ plateau as a mage, check with me in game or post here.
